Yahaya Mohammed welcomes Asamoah Gyan to the Premier league, insists he will outscore the legendary striker

Aduana Stars striker Yahaya Mohammed has acknowledged that Asamoah Gyan’s return to the Ghana Premier league is a blessing to Ghana football.

Asamoah Gyan on transfer deadline day sealed a lucrative move to Legon Cities, he joined the Royals on a year deal as a free agent.

Making a return to the domestic top-flight league after 17 years of being away. Gyan previously played in the domestic top-flight league for Liberty Professionals in 2003, scoring 10 goals in 16 games before leaving the side to join Italian outfit Udinese.

Reacting to the news, Aduana Stars striker, Yahaya Mohammed has acknowledged that Gyan’s return is a blessing to Ghana football.

“It’s good to have a player like Asamoah Gyan in the Ghana Premier League. He is bringing a lot of things to the Premier League. One of the things is attention from other countries and they will recognize the youngsters coming up. People will also learn from him. It’s a blessing to Ghana football”, he told Angel FM.

Despite his admiration and respect for Asamoah Gyan, Yahaya Mohammed, who was in contention to win the golden boot in the truncated 2019/2020 season insists that he will score the most goals in the upcoming season.

“We are not in the same team but nothing will change. No matter what will happen I’m going to win the goal king. When we start the league, we will both be scoring and that will generate a lot of excitement for the league. I don’t remember the last time a senior player at the level of Asamoah Gyan returned to the league. Gyan’s return is huge for the league”.

The 2020/21 football season will begin on November 13, Aduana Stars will begin their season with a home game against Hearts of Oak, whiles Asamoah Gyan’s Legon Cities will begin their season with a home game against Berekum Chelsea.
