Dreams FC administrative manager, Ameenu Shadow has opened up on why his outfit defied all odds to acquire the services of Joseph Esso.

The Dawu outfit last month pronounced the acquisition of Black Stars B striker Joseph Esso on a two-year-deal after leaving Hearts of Oak on a free transfer.

Joseph Esso was one of five players who were released by the Phobians last month after failing to extend their contracts with the club.

The former Ebusua Dwarfs forward after leaving Hearts of Oak became the most wanted player in the country, he was on the books of the likes of Asante Kotoko, Ashanti Gold and even clubs outside the country.

However, the unanticipated transpired, Esso ended up signing for Dreams FC.

Speaking in an interview with Kwaku Sarpong Sarkodie of Bryt FM in Koforidua, Dreams FC administrative manager, Ameenu Shadow opened up on why his outfit signed Esso despite facing stiff competition.

“We did a holistic assessment over the past two seasons and we realized the problem was focusing on the youth more with less experience which normally affects us in match days”

“After a thorough analysis we saw that the quality upfront was low and that we needed to boost the attacking third but when you are beefing up squad you need to get someone who can fit into the profile so we saw Joseph Esso as the best striker who can give us a lot of benefits” he told Kwaku Sarpong Sarkodie of Bryt FM in Koforidua.

“We are happy that Esso has accepted the challenge we’ve given him and we are optimistic that his quality will help the team going forward. We believe he can help raise the name of the club, draw fans to the stadium and also get the needed sponsorships for us” he said.

Despite signing Esso, Ameenu Shardow hinted that the club will beef it squad with more quality players ahead of the 2021/20 football season scheduled to commence in October.

“We are going to sign quality players because over the past two seasons we’ve realized that our performance wasn’t up to standard and that does not befit Dreams FC”

“If you will remember, we had about seven renowned premier league campaigners like Aaron Amoah, Abeiku Ainoson, Godfred Asante, Emmanuel Lomotey and others three seasons ago but in the past two seasons the quality has fall and that is why we have decided to add quality to our team”

“Apart from Joseph Essso, I can assure you and the entire Dreams FC fans that we will do more interesting signings that will raise the quality of the team. In fact we are determined enough to do away with the failure in the past two seasons. So management will go all out to ensure that we procured enough quality at the disposals of our technical team to raise the standard of the club again” he added.
