The senior national team of Ghana, the Black Stars are preparing to make their fourth appearance at the World Cup.

Addo together with George Boateng (Assistant Coach), Mas-Ud Didi Dramani (Assistant Coach) and Chris Hughton (Technical Advisor) have plenty to mull over in the selection of players for the tournament.

The world football governing body, FIFA have permitted an expanded squad size for the tournament, with countries now permitted to include up to 26 players in their selection, with a minimum of 23.

Ghana together with the 31 other countries to feature at the Mundial must submit their final squad by Sunday, November 13, 2022, one week before the World Cup which begins on Sunday, November 20.

The 32 countries have the prerogative of replacing seriously injured or sick players 24 hours before the start of their respective first match in Qatar.

Before the announcement of the final squads, the countries can name a provisional list of up to 55 players one month before the tournament kicks start.

Ghana’s Coach Otto Addo has revealed that 70% of players who featured in the recent friendly games against Brazil and Nicaragua will make the final squad.

“70 per cent of the players currently on international duty with Ghana’s squad who meet Nicaragua in Lorca, Spain on Tuesday will be in Qatar,” Otto Addo told Bild in an interview after the 3-0 defeat to Brazil.

“The remaining 30 per cent will be tight decisions. We’re watching the players closely for the next few games to see who could play for Qatar in October.”

The likes of Andre Ayew, Thomas Partey, Inaki Williams, Tariq Lamptey, Mohammed Salisu, Jordan Ayew, Daniel Amartey, Alexander Djiku, Mohammed Kudus and so on are expected to make the squad.

Ghana have been pitted in Group H of the group stages alongside Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.
