We were promised a house and cash to win the 2004 CAF Confederations Cup – Yusif Chibsah

Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Yusif Chibsah has revealed that the Kotoko playing body and technical members were each promised a house and cash to win the 2004 Confederation cup final.

Kotoko came into the second leg of the final in Kumasi as clear favorites after earning a 1-1 draw away in Accra against bitter rivals Hearts of Oak.

The Porcupine Warriors needed a win or a scoreless draw to be victorious, but they bottled it as they lost 8-7 on penalties, the game after 90 minutes ended 1-1.

Speaking on GTV Sports plus in a program dubbed “Time with our captains”, the former Asante Kotoko midfielder revealed that they were promised a house and 10 million (GHS 1,000) each by Osei Kwame ‘Despite’ and Kwabena Kesse ‘Kesseben’ respectively.

He said “Do you know what we missed for failing to win to win the cup? Despite promised each one of us a house, Kesseben also promised us 10 million (GHS 1,000) each”.

The likes of Charles Taylor, Bernard Dong Bortey, Lawrence Adjah Tetteh and Amankwah Mireku were all on the show as they recount about the final.
