Skipper of Hearts of Oak, Mohammed Fatawu has labeled Asante Kotoko Cameroonian duo, Frank Etouga Mbella and George Mfegue as ordinary and over hyped players.
The comments from the Hearts of Oak skipper comes in hours after Sunday’s scoreless Super Clash. Prior to the game, the Cameroonian duo who are in fine form and have jointly scored 15 league goals for Asante Kotoko were tipped to rip the Hearts of Oak defense apart. However, the Hearts of Oak defense kept them quiet for most parts of the game.
“Tackling them is normal because they don’t play any extraordinary football. You know the Ghana media, once you score one or two goals as a foreigner, they’ll start to hype you as if you’re extraordinary but it’s the same ball we play here, it’s the same ball Ghanaian strikers play. They just have favour, that’s why they are scoring and getting all the hype,” Mohammed Fatawu told Kumasi-based Silver FM.
Mohammed Fatawu added that there’s no reason why the Hearts of Oak is suppose to be scared of the Cameroonian duo when they play on daily basis with Sulley Muntari.
“Playing against them didn’t scare we, we play with Sulley Muntari, so how can we be scared of Mbella and Mfegue? People say all those things out of support, once they mention those names, fans of Hearts of Oak also mention Daniel Afriyie, Kofi Kordzi, Obeng Jnr. All those things makes the game interesting but it is nothing scary,” the Hearts of Oak skipper added.
Mohammed Fatawu and his Hearts of Oak teammates will face the Cameroonian duo once again in March and in April. The two teams will play on March 4 in the President Cup, before playing again in mid April in the second leg of the Premier League.
