Ampem Darkoa Ladies defeated Police Ladies 3-1 after extra-time to win the Women’s FA Cup for the second consecutive time, in the process completing the double in back to back seasons.
Police Ladies after missing numerous chances in the first half opened the scoring in the 62nd minute, a crossing from Mary Berko eluded everyone and went into the net.
Ampem Darkoa Ladies pegged Police Ladies back in the 79th minute. Ophelia Serwaa Amponsah headed in a sweet crossing from Mabel Amoyaw.
The remaining minutes of 90 minutes saw no goals and extra-time was needed to separate the two teams.
In extra-time, Ampem Darkoa Ladies scored two goals to win the game 3-1. Mary Amponsah scored both goals, hitting the back of the net in the 107th and 108th minute.
The FA Cup triumph means Ampem Darkoa Ladies have completed the double for the second consecutive season.
For winning the Premier League, Ampem Darkoa Ladies will represent Ghana in this year’s WAFU Zone B Women’s Champions League to be played in Cote D’Ivoire.
