German Bundesliga II side Fortuna Düsseldorf has exempted Ghanaian forward Bernard Tekpetey from all club duties until Wednesday, July 29 to sort out his future.
Fortuna Düsseldorf was relegated from the just ended German Bundesliga season after they finished 17th.
Bernard Tekpetey joined the club on a 2 year loan deal from Schalke 04 last summer. The Ghanaian international has struggled to break into the first team, starting just 5 Bundesliga games.
Following the club’s relegation to Bundesliga 2 and the lack of playing time, Tekpetey has been pushing for a move out of the club despite still being under contract.
Düsseldorf who are unhappy with the player’s attitude in recent days have exempted him from all club duties to sort out his future ahead of preparations for the new season.
“We have exempted Bernard Tekpetey from his duties and obligations as a squad player until Wednesday, July 29, so that he can look after his personal future during this time,” read the club’s statement that is translated from German.

The want-away forward went through a torrid time with Düsseldorf last season, he featured in 9 Bundesliga games and failed to get on the scoresheet.
According to reports, Tekpetey is linked with a move to Bulgarian side Ludogorets.
Meanwhile, Schalke O4 is not interested in recalling him from his loan stint with Fortuna Düsseldorf.
