Burkina Faso defeated Ghana 1-0 to secure a place in the final of the 2022 WAFU Zone B Championship.
The Blacks Starlets displayed a breathtaking performance but were unable to take advantage of their dominance as they suffered defeat courtesy a second half penalty converted by Ousmane Camara.
The win earns Burkina Faso a place in the final of the Championship and also a place at the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be played in Algeria early next year.
Burkina Faso will take on Nigeria in the final of the Championship. Nigeria defeated Cote D’Ivoire 3-1 to secure a place in the final. The Golden Eaglets got their goals from two free-kicks converted by Emmanuel Michael and a header by Abubakar Idris Abdullahi, while Yan Diomande scored for Cote D’Ivoire from a penalty.
Nigeria and Burkina will represent WAFU Zone B in the AFCON in Algeria next year. The two teams will also be involved in the final of the WAFU Zone B championship on Friday, June 24 at 19:00 GMT, while Ghana will play Cote D’Ivoire in the third place match on the same day at 16:00 GMT.
