Ampem Darkoa Ladies started the West Africa Zone B (WAFU B) Women’s Champions League qualifiers will a 4-2 win against Togolese fold Amid Du Monde at the Samuel Ogbemudia Sports Stadium.
The Ghanaian champions opened the scoring just a minute into the game, skipper Mary Owusu gave her side the lead from a header.
Amid Du Monde against the run of play drew level in the 17th minute but just three minutes later, Ampem Darkoa Ladies regained the lead, Mary Amponsah capitalized on an error by the goalkeeper to make it 2-1.
In the second half, Ampem Darkoa Ladies continued to control the game and grabbed their third goal in the 55th minute, Mary Amponsah scored once again to complete her hat-trick and give her side a 2-goal cushion.
Seven minutes later, Ampem Darkoa’s capitulation continued as they scored the fourth, Mary Amponsah scored again to complete a haul.
Later in the game, Amid Du Monde reduced the deficit but unsurprisingly a comeback didn’t materialize as Ampem Darkoa Ladies held on to win 4-2.
The Ghanaian champions will return to action on Friday, August 25, 2023 for their final group game against Ivorian conquerors Atletico FC.
