Ghana Women’s Premier League champions, Ampem Darkoa Ladies defeated Athletico de Abidjan of Ivory Coast 3-1 to progress to the semifinal of the West Africa Zone B (WAFU B) Women’s Champions League qualifiers.
Just like in the 4-2 win in the first game against Amid du Monde, Ampem Darkoa Ladies had a first start to the game and opened the scoring in the second minute, skipper Mary Amponsah the scorer.
Mary Amponsah doubled Ampem Darkoa’s lead in the 15th minute, before scoring again the 28th minute to make it 3-0 and complete her hattrick, her 7th goal of the tournament.
In the 83rd minute, Athletico de Abidjan pulled a goal back to give themselves hopes of a comeback but that didn’t materialize as the Ghanaian champions held on to win 3-1.
The win sends the team into the semifinal, where they’ll come up against Sam Nelly FC of Benin. Delta Queens will face Athletico de Abidjan.
