Northern City FC have secured promotion to the Access Bank Division One League after beating Kasalgu Arrow Heads in the final of the Northern Region Division Two middle league on Saturday evening.

The two teams headed into the final without tasting a defeat in their respective middle league groups, winning 2 games and drawing 1.

In the final at the nearly filled Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, Northern City won the game 2-0, courtesy two first half goals from Alhassan Abdul Jawad and Abdulai Muzahim.

The win secures Northern City a place in the Division One League, where they’ll compete in Zone One A.

With Northern City FC’s qualification, it means the Northern region will have three teams in the Division One League next season. The other Northern region based teams to compete in the league are Tamale City and Steadfast FC.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that the fixtures for the new season will be released this month. The season is expected to kick off at the ending of August or the beginning of September.
