Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus scored and provided an assist for Ajax as they defeated Rangers 4-0 in their opening Group A game of the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League.
Mohammed Kudus was handed his first starting role in all competitions since April and took the opportunity with both hands.
Ajax after early domination took the lead in the 17th minute through Edson Alvarez. The Dutch Champions doubled their lead in the 32nd minute, Steven Berghuis’ side footed effort deflected off a defender and went pass the goalkeeper.
A minute later, Ajax made it 3-0, Mohammed Kudus after receiving a pass from Calvin Bassey turned away from James Tavernier before driving forward and hammering the ball into the net.
Ajax rounded the game off in the 80th minute, Steven Berghuis grabbed his second and his team’s fourth.
Mohammed Kudus was named man of the match. The youngster will hope his performance will be enough to earn him another starting role when Ajax just Heereveen over the weekend.
