VIDEO: Kamal Sowah scores only goal of the game as OH Leuven fires past Standard Liege

Leicester City loanee Kamal Sowah scored the only goal of the game as OH Leuven silenced giants Standard Liege 1-0 on Saturday evening in the Belgium Jupiler League.

The 20-year-old started the game and came close to opening the scoring in the dying embers of the first half, his fine effort was repelled by goalkeeper Bodart.

In the second half, the game continued from where it left off, both teams continued to push men forward in search of the breakthrough goal. However, Standard Liege’s hopes of winning the game was dented in the 60th minute when Nicolas Gavory was sent off for a second bookable offence.

17 minutes later, Sowah scored the only goal of the game to hand OH Leuven all 3 points. After a beautiful passing sequence from OH Leuven, Sowah received a fine pass from Xavier Mercier in the 18-yard-box, the youngster kept his composure and slotted the ball past Bodart to score the only goal of the game and his first of the season.

The Leicester City loanee was given the rest in the 89th minute, he was replaced by Ivorian international Aboubakar Keita.

Sowah has so far made 5 appearances for OH Leuven this season, scoring a goal and providing 2 assists.

OH Leuven now sit 5th on the league log with 8 points from 5 games.

Sowah will hope to add to his tally when they travel to the Versluys Arena to face Oostende on Saturday.
