Update on Thomas Partey’s injury

Ghanaians and Arsenal fans were left perturbed after it was reported that midfielder Thomas Partey has suffered an injury just minutes to the kickoff of Ghana’s International friendly game against Brazil.

Thomas Partey was due to start for Ghana in the International friendly game against Brazil at the Stade Oceane Le Havre which ended 3-0 in favor of Brazil.

However, the midfielder who has proved to be key for Ghana and Arsenal when fit pulled out of the game and was replaced by Baba Iddrisu after he felt discomfort around his knee during warmup.

The news left Arsenal fans specifically worried as they were hoping to have him available for the clash against bitterest rivals Tottenham Hotspurs on Saturday, October 1.

In the newest development, astute Ghanaian Journalist, George Addo Jnr has in Twitter post divulged that Thomas Partey’s exclusion was precautionary and he’s expected to be available for the game against Nicaragua on Tuesday.

“A member of the Black Stars medical team has confirmed to me Partey’s exclusion was only precautionary,” wrote George Addo Jnr on Twitter.

“Partey felt uncomfortable around his knee and was advised to pull out. He should be ready for Tuesday’s game.”

The news is a sigh of relief to all Ghanaians and Arsenal fans who have struggled to see the best of Thomas Partey in recent years due to injury.

The talented midfielder has struggled to stay fit since his €50m move from Atletico Madrid to Arsenal in October 2020.
