The Netherlands defeated the United States of America (USA) 3-0 in their the second Group D game of the 2022 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Costa Rica, leaving Ghana with a slim chance of qualifying to the Quarterfinals of the competition.
Netherlands dumped off the 1-0 defeat they suffered in the first game to holders Japan to pull off the upsetting results against one of the tournament’s favorites. Sanne Koopman, Dana Foederer and Marit Auee struck for the Netherlands.
The results gives all four teams in the group a chance of progressing to the Quarterfinals, including Ghana who have lost their first two games by 3-0 and 2-0 to USA and Japan respectively.
Howbeit, Ghana are presented with a slim chance of qualifying and will need to do more than the other three teams in the group to qualify. The Black Princesses currently trail the group with 0 points and minus five goals.
Ghana who will face Netherlands in the final group game at the Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica on Wednesday, August 17 will need to win convincingly and as well hope that Japan beat USA.
The Black Princesses must beat Netherlands by four or more goals margin and hope Japan beat USA by two or more goals margin.
Any other result will see the Black Princesses bow out of the Mundial in the first round for the 6th consecutive time.
