The female U-20 team of Ghana, the Black Princesses will kick start the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica today.
Ghana will take on the United States of America (USA) in the opening game of Group D at the Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto in Alajuela at 5:00pm GMT.
The team will go into the game in search for a win without the services of skipper Evelyn Badu.
The 2022 CAF Women’s Interclub Player of the Year and Women’s Young Player of the Year will miss the opener due to a fresh ankle sprain she suffered in the team’s 6-0 friendly win against Club Sport Herediano FF last Friday.
Evelyn Badu is currently in POP awaiting scan results to confirm the extent of injury to the ankle.
The Avaldnes midfielder is likely to miss the entire tournament.
Ghana after today’s game against USA will take on Japan on Sunday, August 14 and Netherlands on Wednesday, August 17.
The Black Princesses in the absence of their skipper will be captained by Anasthesia Achiaa as they set sights on going past the first Round of the Mundial for the first time in their history.
