U-20 Women’s World Cup: Black Princesses thrash Essiam Socrates Ladies in ‘farewell’ match

The Black Princesses (Female U-20) defeated Essiam Socrates Ladies 5-0 in a friendly encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Rahama Jafaru of Hasaacas Ladies and Ophelia Serwaa Amponsah of Ampem Darkoa Ladies scored a brace each, Dreamz Ladies’ Stella Nyamekye scored the other goal.

The friendly game against the newly promoted Premier League side forms part of preparations for the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup to be played in Costa Rica next month.

The team has been preparing for the Mundial for weeks now at the Ghanaman Soccer Ghanaman Soccer Centre of excellence in Prampram and will travel to Europe in the coming days where they’ll wrap up preparations.

The Black Princesses are paired in Group D for the competition which will be played from Wednesday, August 10 to Sunday, August 28, 2022 with United States, the Netherlands and Japan.

Ghana is making a 6th consecutive appearance at the competition and will hope to go past the first Round for the first time in its history.
