The female U-20 team, the Black Princesses suffered a 3-0 defeat to the United States of America (USA) in their opening Group D game of the 2022 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Costa Rica.
Ghana came into the game without talisman Evelyn Badu who was ruled out of the competition earlier today due to an ankle injury.
The Black Princesses found themselves a goal down after just 11 minutes into the game, Michelle Cooper headed in a crossing from Elaine Maria Rouse to give USA the lead.
In the 31st minute, the Black Princesses were reduced to the 10 women. Jacqueline Owusu was shown a straight red after a rough play.
Minutes later, USA doubled their lead through Alyssa Thompson, finishing off a low cross from Michelle Cooper.

In the second half, USA scored another goal to make it 3-0 and wrap the game up, Allyson Sentor the goal scorer this time.
The Black Princesses will hope to bounce back to winning ways when they return to action on Sunday, August 14 against Japan at the Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto in Alajuela.
