The Black Princesses of Ghana will square-off with Netherlands in the final Group D game of the 2022 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Costa Rica later today.
Ghana have suffered defeats in their first two group games, losing to the United States of America (USA) and Japan by 3-0 and 2-0 respectively.
Despite the defeats, Ghana still have the chance of progressing to the quarterfinals of the competition, but have only a slim chance of doing so.
The Black Princesses were offered with a chance of qualification after Netherlands pulled off an amazing performance to beat one of the tournament’s favorites USA 3-0 in the second group game.
The result means Japan stay top of the group with 6 points and +3 goals, Netherlands have 3 points and +2 goals, USA as well has 3 points and 0 goals, while Ghana trail the group with 0 points and -5 goals.
The standings leave all four teams in the group a chance of progressing to the quarterfinals but the Black Princesses stand a very slim chance.
Ghana will have to beat Netherlands convincingly in the final group game and as well hope that Japan beat USA.
The Black Princesses must beat Netherlands by four or more goals margin and hope Japan beat USA by two or more goals margin.
Any other result will see the Black Princesses bow out of the Mundial in the first round for the 6th consecutive time.
The game will take place at the Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica and will kickoff at 11:00 pm. The other game in the group between Japan and USA will also kickoff at the same time.
