Turkish giants Besiktas secure the signature of Daniel Amartey

Turkish Super Lig giants, Besiktas have announced the signing of Ghana defender Daniel Amartey on a permanent transfer.

Daniel Amartey signed a contract with the Turkish giants on Friday after successful negotiations and passing mandatory medicals.

In a statement, the club announced the arrival of the Ghanaian center-back but did not disclose the details of his contract. Per reports, Amartey signed a 3-year contract.

The statement read: “Our club signed a contract with Ghanaian defender Daniel Amartey as part of the transfer efforts of the 2023-24 season.

“We wish Daniel Amartey, whom we believe will provide important services to our club, with our glorious jersey, and we respectfully present it to the knowledge of the public,” it ended.

The 28-year joins the club as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Leicester City at the end of the 2022/23 sesik.

Amartey spent 7 years and 8 seasons at Leicester, making 145 appearances in all competitions, with 106 of those appearances coming in the Premier League. He scored 3 goals in his 145 appearances.

The 28-year old during his stay helped the team win the English Premier League, FA Cup and Community Shield.

Daniel Amartey in the past also featured for Ghanaian fold Inter Allies, Djurgårdens IF of Sweden and Danish fold Copenhagen.

The center-back who can also play at right back and in defensive midfield comes bag of experience, having made 52 appearances for the Ghana national team, including at the World Cup and African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
