Tottenham Hotspur and Ivorian defender Serge Aurier has opened up why his brother Christopher Aurier was shot and killed in Toulouse earlier last week.
Christopher Aurier, 26, was shot outside a nightclub in Boulevard de Thibaud in Toulouse in the south of France in the early hours of Monday 13 July. He was pronounced dead at the Hospital.
Spurs defender Aurier however believes his late brother was murdered by the boyfriend of his ex-girlfriend.
Serge Aurier told La Depeche, as quoted by Tribal Football: “It’s all about a woman, my brother’s ex.
“Christopher was still talking to his ex, her new boyfriend got angry and wanted it to end. Christopher didn’t respond, he ignored it. Moments later, that friend came back and shot Christopher.”
On the suspected perpetrator surrendering himself, he added: “That’s good news and smart on his part.
“We have to let the matter rest. I have no feelings of hatred or revenge against the perpetrator. I have a profession in which you have to be calm, I remain calm.
“I have faith in the legal system. I am deeply saddened, I will stay mourning my brother’s death.”
Aurier’s younger brother was at the Lens academy with his sibling and was playing for Toulouse Rodeo in France’s fifth division before his untimely demise.
Sad. Just because of an ex.
