Tottenham defender Serge Aurier’s brother killed after shooting in France

Tottenham Hotspurs have confirmed that defender Serge Aurier has lost his brother following reports he was shot dead outside a night club in France.

A press statement from the club read: “The club is deeply saddened to confirm media reports that Serge Aurier’s brother passed away in the early hours of this morning.

“We are supporting Serge at this difficult time and we ask that the privacy of the player and his family is respected.

“Everybody at the club sends their sincerest condolences to Serge and his family. Our thoughts are with them all.”

Christopher Aurier, 26, was shot dead in Toulouse in the early hours of Monday morning.

He was hit by two gun shots in the abdomen outside a nightclub in Boulevard de Thibaud in Toulouse in the south of France, according to Europe 1.

Local residents heard two shots being fired and discovered a man on the ground with wounds in his abdomen. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The suspect reportedly escaped the scene. Police have already launched an investigation into the matter and have asked for potential witnesses or people with information to come forward.

Aurier’s younger brother was at the Lens academy with his sibling and played for Toulouse Rodeo in France’s fifth division.
