On February 12th, 2001, which is exactly 19 years ago today, Accra Hearts of Oak reached it peak.
The Ghanaian giants were named 8th best club in the World in the CNN/World Soccer weekly chart. They club was at then rubbing shoulders with football giants Real Madrid, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Arsenal etc.
The Phobians achieved the feat just a day after they defeated Egyptian side Zamalek by 2-0 in Kumasi to win the CAF Super Cup.
The Super Cup success was the club’s fourth trophy in recent months. They had already won the Ghana Premier league, FA Cup and the CAF Champions League in December.
