On this day October 29, 2017 (3 years ago), Saddick Adams scored a classic hat-trick to power Asante Kotoko to a 3-1 victory against arch-rivals Hearts of Oak in the FA Cup final at the Tamale Sports Stadium.
The clash was the first time the two sworn-rivals were playing in the FA Cup final since 1990 (27 years ago).
Both clubs came into the game after having an underwhelming season. Hearts of Oak finished 3rd, while Kotoko finished 5th.
Kotoko took an early lead through Saddick Adams, the center forward was teed-up beautifully in the box by Kwame Boahene.
The Porcupine Warriors made it 2-0 on the 30th minute mark, Saddick Adams scored from the spot kick after Richard Akroofi brought down Obed Owusu in the 18-yard box.
Just minutes to the recess, Saddick Adams scored is 3rd on the day and Kotoko’s 3rd to make it 3-0. He rounded off goalkeeper Ben Mensah and planted the ball into an empty net.
The Phobians grabbed a face saving goal in the second half through skipper Thomas Abbey, but the Porcupine Warriors held on to defeat bitterest rivals 3-1 and grab their 9th FA Cup trophy, whiles the Phobians search for silverware since 2009 continued.
