Three (3) teams secure promotion to the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League

Fosu Royal Ladies, Kumasi Sports Academy and Jonina Football Academy have secured promotion to the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League.

Brong Ahafo Regional Champions, Fosu Royal Ladies secured promotion to the women’s topflight league after beating Savannah Ladies 3:2 in the penultimate game of the Nothern zone playoff.

Fosu Royal Ladies opened the scoring in the 29th minute through Patricia Adjei but conceded four minutes later through a Sakina Hanan free kick.

Patricia Adjei scored her second of the day to restore Fosu Royal Ladies’ lead in the 62nd minute. FC Savannah equalized in the 91st minute, but Eunice Pokuaa secured the win for Fosu Royal Ladies two minutes later .

The results put Fosu Royal Ladies on top of the Northern Zone table with 12 points, securing a place in the topflight league.

Kumasi Sports Academy came from a goal down to beat Real Crusaders 6:2 to move into second place and as well secure a place in the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League.

Vera Yeboah scored for Real Crusaders in the 13th minute but Kumasi Academy leveled the score through Pearl Asantewaa and went on to score five more through a brace from Gertrude Amoafo and a goal each from Afia Nyarko, Bernice Aboagyewaa and Constance Korsah.

Later on, Rafiatu Tijani later scored to reduce the deficit for Real Crusaders as the game ended 6:2 in favour of Kumasi Sports Academy, putting them level on points with their opponents in the final game, Fosu Royal Ladies.

Jonina Ladies as well secured promotion to the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League after beating Anlo Ladies 3-2 to maintain their perfect form in the Southern Zone playoff.

Agnes Yeboah gave Jonina Ladies the lead in the final minutes of the first half but Awuku Elorm scored two goals in the opening 7 minutes of the second half to turn the game around for Anlo Ladies.

Caroline Tandoh and Sakinatu Amadu scored in the 81st and 87th minute respectively to win the game for Jonina, putting the team in 1st place on the league table with 12 points, in the process securing promotion to the topflight league.

The final slot in the topflight league will be decided between Greater Accra Regional Champions, Epiphany Ladies and Central Region Champions, Sea Lions.

Sea Ladies have 9 points and will come up against Jonina in the final game, while Epiphany have 7 points and will come up against Bottom placed Hasport Ladies in the final game.

Epiphany Ladies need nothing of a win and as well hope that Sea Lions fail to win in order to qualify, while Sea Lions might qualify even if they lose and Ephiphany fail to win.
