The Black Stars of Ghana are amongst 32 teams to feature at the 2022 World Cup which is set to kick off on Sunday, November 20, 2022.
Head Coach of the team, Otto Addo is expected to release his final squad for the tournament by the close of Sunday, November 13.
Per Otto Addo, his squad will be dominated by 70% of players who made the squad for the recent friendly games against Brazil and Nicaragua.
Below are players who didn’t make the squad but could make Otto Addo’s squad:
1. Jeffery Schlupp

Shockingly, a decent player like Jeffrey Schlupp hasn’t featured for Ghana since September last year, a situation which has left people asking questions. The Crystal Palace forward’s current form and versatility will give Otto Addo a lot to ponder on ahead of the Mundial.
2. Abdul Mumin

Since earning his debut national team call-up in December 2021 for the African Cup of Nations, Abdul Mumin has been invited for every Black Stars game, bar the games against Brazil and Nicaragua. The budding center-back recently signed for Rayo Vallecano and made his debut in a league defeat to Athletic Bilbao in September.
3. Mubarak Wakaso

One of the most experienced players in Ghana’s side currently. Wakaso has made 67 appearances for the team but has in recent months struggled to feature for the team due to injuries. The industrious midfielder recently moved to Belgium to join KAS Eupen and has settled in well.
4. Joseph Painstil

Despite Joseph Painstil’s recent form that has seen him score 4 goals and provide an assist in 7 starts this season, he was surprisingly overlooked for the friendly games against Brazil and Nicaragua. Otto Addo revealed that he hasn’t seen more of the Genk winger and believes others are currently ahead of him. Nevertheless, his recent form would give Addo a rethink.
5. Majeed Ashimeru

Majeed Ashimeru has been in the form of his life since the start of the year. Howbeit, he’s yet to earn a call-up to the Ghana national team since Otto Addo became head coach and that has largely been due to injuries. With Majeed’s form and recent comments about him from Otto Addo, he’s likely to be one of the players who break into the squad for the World Cup.
6. Samuel Owusu

Another option for Ghana on the right flank. Samuel Owusu recently returned to Europe after a 3-year stint in Saudi Arabia, Asia. The winger rejoined Čukarički and has so far had a good start on his return, scoring a goal and providing two assists in 7 league appearances.
7. Lawrence Ati-Zigi

Ati-Zigi is a regular member of the Black Stars but was not included in the squad for the recent friendlies against Brazil and Nicaragua. With Manaf Nurudeen struggling to get minutes at Eupen, Ati-Zigi would hope to put up a decent display at St. Gallen to steal a place in the team.
8. Abdul Samed Salis

If there’s anything Otto Addo is focused on getting now, then it’s a perfect alternative of Thomas Partey. Salis is the perfect player to step in for Thomas Partey’s whose career in recent years has been blighted by injuries. However, it might take a miracle for Salis to be in the squad for the World Cup after Otto Addo revealed that he refused to be in the standby list for June’s AFCON qualifiers against Madagascar and Central African Republic.
9. Patric Pfeiffer

One of the 5 players who switched allegiance to represent Ghana in June. Of the 5, Patric Pfeiffer was the only player not to have received an invitation for the friendly games against Brazil and Nicaragua. The center-back has been in fine form for Darmstadt this season, making 11 appearances in all competitions and scoring two goals.
10. Abdul Aziz

Ghana’s biggest problems in recent times has been goal scoring. The team has scored 7 goals in 11 games in 2022, a situation Otto Addo will hope to improve before the Mundial. Ghana might find the solution in Abdul Aziz who has scored 5 goals and provided 3 assists for Rio Ave in 9 league games.
11. Kamal Sowah

What a turn around it has been for Kamal Sowah at Club Brugge. The youngster after a torrid start to life at the Belgian club has managed to turn things around, becoming an integral member of the team. Sowah has made 11 starts for the team, scoring 2 goals and providing 3 assists.
12. Bernard Tekpetey

One of Ghana’s performing players since the beginning of the season. Bernard Tekpetey has been instrumental for Ludogorets in the Bulgarian league and the Europa League, scoring 5 goals and providing 3 assists from 11 starts in all competitions.
13. Ibrabim Danlad

One of Ghana’s next big stars. Danlad Ibrahim has represented Ghana at all youth levels but is yet to make an appearance for the senior national team. The Asante Kotoko shot stopper recently showed why he needs to be in the squad for the World Cup after helping the Black Galaxies secure a place at the next edition of the CHAN.
I wish to see Yekpetey,Wakasu,Schlupp,Ashimelu,A.Duncan Nketsia and Odoi.
