The Eagles fly above the Stars

The Black Stars of Ghana after being away for almost a year due to the Coronavirus pandemic that brought football to standstill returned to action against the Eagles of Mali in an exhibition match in Antalya.

Ck Akonnor, who was making his Black Stars managerial debut named a strong team, with the likes of Thomas Partey, Andre Ayew and Jordan Ayew starting.

He as well handed debut starts to Alexander Djiku, Eugene Ansah and Tarique Fosu.

Mohammed Mogassouba also named a strong team, with the likes of Falaye Sacko, Amadou Haidara, Kalifa Coulibaly and Mamadou Fofana starting.

The Malians took the lead just 3 minutes into the game. Hamari Traore picked a decent pass from Cheik Doucoure on the right flank and made a decent run into the 18 yard box. He calmly beat Lawrence Ati to make it 1-0.

The remaining minutes of the first half wasn’t the best of spectacles for any football fan, both teams holding the ball but failing to create any clear chance.

Mali made it 2-0 just 5 minutes after the break. El Bilal Toure connected with a good cross from Hamari Traore to put the game above Ghana’s reach.

Mali killed the game in the 75th minute, Amadou Haidara reacted the quickest to his first time effort that struck the inside the post to make it 3-0.

The game after 90 minutes and no additional time ended 3-0, the Malians hand CK Anonnor a defeat on his Black Stars managerial debut, surely not one he will ever like to remember.

Ghana will on Monday, October 12, 2020 play Asian Champions, Qatar in Antalya.
