Swansea City manager Steve Cooper has provided updates on André Ayew’s injury.
The 30-year-old after scoring two splendid goals for Ghana last Thursday against Sudan suffered a muscle strain during the team’s training session ahead of the return encounter in Omdurman.
He was ruled out of the game and had to return to Wales for further tests to assess the extent of the injury.
Speaking to media ahead of Saturday’s league fixture against Rotterham United, boss Steve Cooper revealed that Ayew’s injury isn’t as scary as first thought, but he’s a doubt for this weekend’s fixture.
“Andre and Marc (Guehi) both came back early. More precautionary really. They’d played every minute of every league game to now, and then going into a full on international camp,” Steve Cooper told the club’s official website.
“Like everybody, they’re at risk of fatigue and you can start feeling muscle soreness etc. They’re doubts I guess, for the weekend, but we haven’t made a final call,” he added.
Steve Cooper will hope to have talisman Ayew back in time for the club’s hectic schedule in the coming weeks.
Ayew is the club’s top scorer this term with 5 goals and an assist.
