Team manager of Accra Lions, Ishmael Hamidu has stated emphatically that his outfit will beat Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Saturday.
The Porcupine Warriors will welcome Accra Lions to Kumasi for the final game of the first round of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season.
Speaking ahead of the game, team manager of Accra Lions, Ishmael Hamidu declared that his outfit is unfazed by the Asante Kotoko team and he’s confident they’ll replicate what King Faisal did earlier in the season by beating Kotoko at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
“Nana Yaw Amponsah knows our team very well, we’ve played his team [Phar Rangers] countless times in the Division One League, so he knows what we can do,” Ishmael Hamidu said in an interview with Ashh FM.
“We will cause a big upset at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium tomorrow. We are not coming to draw or lose this game, it’s a straight win for us.
“We know a lot about the Kotoko players, Sunyani Neymar [Isaac Oppong] and those Cameroonian players [Frank Mbella and George Mfegue] are not extraordinary players, they are like Division One players.
“We will replicate what King Faisal did earlier in the season by beating Asante Kotoko 3-2 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
”All we are hoping for is a very good officiating. Once we get that, we will surely beat Asante Kotoko on Saturday,” he added.
Accra Lions will be going into the game against Asante Kotoko on Saturday brimming with confidence after beating Medeama 1-0 last weekend. The Accra-based side sit in 14th place on the league table with 19 points from 16 games.
