Former Inter Milan and AC Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari has reportedly reached an agreement to join Ghana Premier League holders Asante Kotoko, according to the Chief Editor of footballmadeinGhana.com, Sheikh Tophic Sienu.
Sulley Muntari joined Hearts of Oak on a 6-month deal in February. The 37-year old was fantastic for the club throughout his time, scoring a goal and providing 3 assists from 14 appearances.
He helped the club retain the MTN FA Cup and as well win the President Cup by beating bitterest rivals Asante Kotoko 2-1.
Following the expiration of his contract with the Phobians, Sulley Muntari was expected to extend his contact with the club. However that hasn’t materialized, with the experience midfielder reportedly turning down numerous offers from the club.
Reports coming in indicates that Sulley Muntari has held positive talks with Asante Kotoko and has agreed to play for the club for the next two seasons.
The former Portsmouth midfielder with his rich experience is expected to improve the Asante Kotoko team that has set sights on retaining the Ghana Premier League title and making an impact in the CAF Champions League.
Should the deal be confirmed, Asante Kotoko will become the 3rd Ghana Premier League team Sulley Muntari will play for. The 2010 UEFA Chanpions League winner first played for Liberty Professionals in 2003 before leaving for Italian fold Udinese Calcio.
