Spokesperson of Turkish outfit Hatayspor has provided an update on the search for Ghanaian international Christian Atsu and Sporting Director Taner Savut.
Christian Atsu and Taner Savut are amongst thousands of people who remain under the rubble following a earthquake that hit many cities in Turkey in the early hours of Monday.
Over 1,000 people are believed to have died in the earthquake and experts say the toll could rise to 10,000 after a second 7.5 magnitude quake hit later on.
A major rescue operation is currently ongoing in the region to rescue many people who remain under the rumble following the heartbreaking situation.
Per spokesperson of Hatayspor, Mustafa Özat, three players who are Bertuğ Özgür Yıldırım, Burak Öksüz and Kerim Alici are out of the rubble, while Christian Atsu and Taner Savut are yet to be seen.
“We could not reach Taner Savut. We know that he is under the rubble. We could not reach Atsu, we learned that his building has turned into a wreck,” said the spokesperson of Hatayspor, Mustafa Özat
“Thank God, Burak Öksüz and Bertuğ were pulled out from under the rubble. Kerim Alici came out with his own means,” he added m.
Christian Atsu joined Hatayspor last summer and scored his maiden goal for the team over the weekend against Kasimpasa in a 1-0 win.
