Senegal’s star man Sadio Mane has been ruled out of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup due to an injury, according to a report from L’Equipe.

Sadio Mane was subbed off just 20 minutes into Bayern Munich’s 6-1 win over Werder Bremen on Tuesday night, raising fears about his fitness for the World Cup which officially kicks off on Sunday, November 20.

Per a report from L’Equipe, Sadio Mane will play no part at the World Cup for Senegal, handling a blow to Head Coach Aliou Cissé who was expected to announce his list of players for the competition on Friday.

The former Liverpool forward is reported to have suffered a tendon and will be out of action for several weeks, ruling him out of the World Cup which will see Senegal play Netherlands, Ecuador and Qatar in the group stages.

Meanwhile, an official of the Senegalese National team has revealed that they are yet to receive an official communication from Bayern Munich regarding the situation of Sadio Mane.

“We haven’t yet received any official communication from Bayern Munich regarding Sadio Mane.”

“When we do, we’ll also have our Team Doctor Abdulrahman Fedior check him to assess the situation. We did the same for Edouard Mendy in September.”

Should Mane miss the World Cup, it’ll be a huge blow to Senegal. The Bayern forward has made 93 appearances for his country and scored 34 times.

Mane was instrumental for the team on their way to winning this year’s Africa Cup of Nations as they beat Egypt on penalties in the final. He scored three goals and was the provider of 2 other goals in the competition.
