After a long hiatus due to Covi-19, the Ghana Premier league finally returned. Legon Cities and Berekum Chelsea got the season underway with a crunch fixture the Accra Sports Stadium.
Legon Cities were looking to make a big statement after making numerous acquisitions in the transfer window, including the signing of Ghana’s all time scorer Asamoah Gyan.
Berekum Chelsea had a fairly quite transfer window, with their biggest acquisition being center forward Stephen Sarfo, who returns to the club after years of being away.

Legon Cities started the game the better side, but it was Berekum Chelsea who had the first biggest opportunity of the game, the away side were awarded a spot kick in the 21st minute. Skipper Stephen Amankona stepped and easily beat Fatau Dauda.
The home side also had they share of the penalty give away in the 31st minute after new signee Baba Mahama was brought down in the box, Jonah Attuquaye converted the resulting penalty kick to make it 1-1.
Legon Cities ended the half on a flying note, but failed to make good use of the possession they saw. The half ended 1-1.
Goran Barjaktarevic introduced young wizard Mathew Anim Cudjoe in the second half hoping he could change the game.
But the second half was the opposite of what the first half presented, both sides failed to create any clear opportunity.
The game ended 1-1. Both sides walked away with a point. Legon Cities’ Elvis Opoku was named NASCO man of the match.
The Premier league continues tomorrow with 6 games scheduled to take place in 6 venues.
