Sandra Owusu-Ansah’s volley for Supreme Ladies against Kumasi Sports Academy nominated for FIFA Puskas Award

Sandra Owusu’s goal for Supreme Ladies against Kumasi Sports Academy Ladies in May 8, 2021 in the Ghana Women’s Premier League has been nominated for the 2021 Puskas Award.

The forward’s volley in a game which ended 1-1 is amongst a list of 11 great goals nominated by the world’s football governing body, FIFA for the best goal of the year for the year 2021.

Sandra Owusu, who now plies her trade in Serbia with ZFK Spartak Subotica will face competition from Erick Lamela, Patrik Schick, Valentino Lazaro, Riyad Mahrez and so on.

“The winner of the Award will be selected by an international jury comprising, on the one hand, a panel of FIFA Legends and, on the other hand, fans from all over the world registered on

“Each of the two groups of voters within the jury has the same electoral weight irrespective of the actual number of voters in those groups (i.e. the votes of the FIFA Legends and fans shall each make up half of the poll, notwithstanding the number of voters in each group),” said FIFA in a statement.

Voting is already open and the winner of the award will be announced at The Best FIFA Football Awards, which will take place in Zurich on January 17, 2022.
