Former Coach of Hearts of Oak, Samuel Boadu has rubbished reports that he has signed a contract to become the new Head Coach of Kumasi-based Division Two side, Cornerstone FC.
Per a Twitter post by Kumasi Cornerstone, which is one of Ghana’s oldest clubs, they’ve reached an agreement with Samuel Boadu to take charge as their new head coach ahead of the 2023/24 season.
“We are delighted to announce Mr. Samuel Boadu as a stop-gap coach. We are certain that Boadu’s experience and standard of excellence as a tactician will impact Cornerstone Football Club positively as we work assiduously to revive our old ,” said the team in a statement
“Per the agreement, the club will not hesitate to let him leave whenever a bigger opportunity comes his way,” the statement added.
However, Samuel Boadu has rubbished the report, stating that he hasn’t even held talks with the team.
“I haven’t signed for Cornerstone and I haven’t even held conversations with anyone at the team. I haven’t even made my mind on joining them. How can I live in Accra and manage in Kumasi?” Boadu quizzed in an interview with Kessben FM.
He continued: “I’m even surprised seeing this because I haven’t held talks with the club. There’s no truth in this, you can verify from anyone at the club.”
When quizzed if he would return to Hearts of Oak, Samuel Boadu said: “Let’s be patient and see. Let’s pray and see what God does.”
Samuel Boadu has been without a club since partying ways with Hearts of Oak at the beginning of the 2023/24 football season. Boadu in a year and half at Hearts of Oak won the Premier League title, the MTN FA Cup on two occasions, the President Cup and the Ghana Super Cup.
However, a poor start to the previous season saw Hearts of Oak end their contract with him. Boadu after leaving Hearts of Oak served as head coach of the Black Satellites, where he led the team to the WAFU Zone B Boys Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, bowing out in the group stages.
Per reports, Boadu is attracting the interest of numerous clubs, including his former side Hearts of Oak.
