Posted by The second edition of the Division One Super Cup continued at the Kyebi Astro Turf in the Eastern Region, with the first round of games in Group B taking pace.
The first game of the day saw Young Apostles and newly promoted Premier League side Samartex 1996 draw 1-1.
Samartex handed starting roles to new boys Emmanuel Keyekeh, Gabriel Bonnah, Ebenezer Acquah and Abass Ganiu.
Young Apostles after a good start to the game broke the deadlock after taking an advantage of an error by the Samartex defense, Kwame Aboagye the goal scorer.
Samartex improved their display but were denied from scoring by a combination of poor finishing and good goalkeeping by Cisse Tijani.
In the final minutes of the game, Samartex finally pulled parity, Godwin Abusah equalized for his side from a spot-kick to earn them a precious point.
In the second game, Tema Youth and Tamale City drew scoreless. Tema Youth had the best chances of the game but failed to plant any of those chances into the net.
The next games of the competition will come off on Friday, August 19. Liberty Professionals face Ebusua Dwarfs and Nsoatreman battle with Kotoku Royals.
