Reports coming in indicates that Stade Rennes after agreeing with Valladolid to sign center back Mohammed Salisu have failed to convince the player to join.
Last week, reports from the French media indicated that Stade Rennes had struck an agreement with Spanish side Real Valladolid worth €12m including bonuses for 21-year-old Ghanaian central defender Mohammed Salisu.
However, fresh reports indicates that Rennes have failed to convince Salisu to join the club and Southampton have now emerged as favorites to secure Salisu’s signature.
Salisu has a release clause of €12 million and a contract that runs out in 2022, it looks like Valladolid have decided to sell him this summer, rather than lose him for free in 12 months time.
Salisu has become a household in La Liga due to his astounding performances week in and week out for Valladolid. The young centerback is also wanted by Sevilla, Schalke, Everton, Newcastle etc.
