The Phobians took the lead in the 23rd minute through pile driver from Gladson Awako. Minutes later, the goal scorer, Awako was sent off for what could probably be indecent.
In the beginning of the second half, Hearts of Oak extended their lead through a spot-kick calmly converted by Ibrabim Salifu.
Accra Lions reduced the deficit in the 78th minute through Seidu Basit, before Benjamin Yorke scored late to seal all three points for Hearts of Oak.
