Head Coach of the Senegalese national team Aliou Cisse has named Sadio Mane in his final squad for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, despite injury concerns.
The Africa Best player’s place in Qatar was in doubt after he picked up an injury in the opening 20 minutes of Bayern Munich’s 6-1 win against Werder Bremen on Tuesday.
Howbeit, Coach Aliou Cisse included the team’s talisman when he named his 26-man squad at a news conference in Dakar on Friday, with the hope that he will be fit in time for the team’s first game against Netherlands on Monday, November 21.
Sadio Mane is joined on the list by Chelsea duo, Edouard Mendy and Kalidou Koulibaly, Ismaila Sarr, Cheikhou Kouyate, Iddrissa Gana Gueye, Nampalys Mendy, Abdou Diallo and so on.
Senegal who are making only a third appearance at the Mundial are hoping to make the knockout round only for the second time in their history.
The Teranga Lions are drawn in Group A alongside host nation Qatar, Ecuador and European giants Netherlands.
