SAD NEWS: Erstwhile Legon Cities goalkeeper Sylvester Sackey passes on

Former Legon Cities shot stopper, Sylvester Sackey has been confirmed dead, the club has confirmed.

Sylvester Sackey passed on Tuesday afternoon at the age of 26 following a short illness.

“It is with a heavy heart that we sadly announce the passing of our goalkeeper, Sylvester Sackey,” a statement from Legon Cities read.

“Sackey has been with us the last four seasons and was our first choice goalkeeper for a greater part of the last two seasons.

“His demise is a big blow to everyone associated with the club.

“Our hearts & thoughts are with the bereaved family at this very difficult time.

“The club is in touch with the family of Sylvester & would communicate our next course of action in the coming days,” the statement ended.

The goalkeeper spent four seasons at Legon Cities. He made 30 appearances for the team in the four seasons, with 19 of those appearances coming in the 2022/23 season.

Sackey departed Legon Cities in July this year following the end of his contract. Per reports gathered my MahamaShaibu.com, the goalkeeper was due to sign for a club in Tanzania before his untimely death.
