REVEALED: Maxwell Konadu turned down offers from Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko and clubs outside Ghana to sign for Nsoatreman

Bankroller of betPawa Premier League side, Nsoatreman FC Ignatius Baffour Awuah has revealed Maxwell Konadu turned down offers from Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko and many other sides outside the country to sign for his outfit.

Maxwell Konadu was appointed Head Coach of Nsoatreman earlier this week, signing a contract that will keep him at the club until 2025. The experienced gaffer was unveiled to the fans of the club on Sunday, July 23, 2023.

Speaking at the unveiling, Ignatius Baffour Awuah disclosed that Maxwell Konadu received offers from Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko and from teams in South Africa and Uganda. However, he was only interested in Nsoatreman’s project.

“Had it being money, Hearts of Oak and Kotoko could have snap him up. Hearts of Oak made contact but he decided to join us”, said, Baffour Awuah who’s the Member of Parliament for Sunyani West Constituency.

“Interestingly, it wasn’t only the two glamorous clubs that were yearning for his signature, there were clubs also from South Africa and Uganda who wanted him but we beat off competition to secure his services.

“We want to tell Ghanaians we have come to stay and that, we are not minnows in Ghana football, we are here to compete and leave a mark” he added.

Maxwell Konadu affirmed the revelations from Baffour Awuah, adding that he was convinced by the infrastructure and the investment the club has made.

“I was pleased when Hon. Baffour Awuah called me to take up the Nsoatreman FC job. Truth be told, I had several offers but I was convinced with the infrastructure and the investment he has made,” said Maxwell Konadu.

“I discussed the move with friends, family and other people and we thought it was a step in the right direction, so I accepted to join the club,” he added.

Maxwell Konadu arrives at Nsoatreman with vast experience, having managed Wa All Stars, Asante Kotoko, Legon Cities, Ghana local team, the Black Galaxies, Ghana U-20 and U-23 team in the past. He also served as Assistant coach for the Ghana national team, the Black Stars and the Ghana U23 team.

The 50-year old won the Ghana Premier League and the President Cup with Asante and the WAFU Nations Cup on two occasions with the Ghana local team.
