Hearts of Oak’s talisman Daniel Afriyie Barnieh has rejected a transfer move to the Spanish club CD Leganes, according to a report from GHANAsoccernet.com.
According to the report, the Spanish Segunda side has tabled a US$400,000 offer for the services of the forward whose contract at Hearts of Oak runs out ay the end of this month.
Leganes reportedly want to sign the 21-year old during the next European transfer window which opens on Sunday, January 1, 2023. However, their first offer for the player has been rejected by his representatives as they weigh other options.
Daniel Afriyie Barnieh has become a subject of transfer following his exploits with Hearts of Oak in the betPawa Premier League and also various national teams.
The 21-year old has in the past two years featured for the Black Satellites (U-20), Black Meteors (U-23), the Black Galaxies and the senior national team, the Black Stars.
Barnieh led the U-20 team to win the 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Mauritania. He also led the Black Galaxies to the 2023 CHAN to be played in Algeria next month, scoring 3 goals in Ghana’s 4 qualifying games.
The former Black Satellites skipper earned his first Black Stars start in a 2-0 friendly win against Switzerland last month. Barnieh also played a crucial role for the Black Meteors in their victory against Mozambique in the qualifiers for the U-23 AFCON.
