Relief for GPL clubs as GFA waives 50% of all loaned monies

The Ghana Football Association Executive Council has decided to waive fifty percent (50%) of the remaining loan amount of GH₵25,000 owed by each of the Ghana Premier League clubs to the GFA.

The GFA at the start of the 2019/20 Ghana football season loaned each Premier League club an amount of GH₵50,000.

At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the GFA waived half of the loan, amounting to GH₵25,000 as GFA Covid-19 Relief fund to the Premier League clubs.

The unpaid loan after the first waiver stood at GH₵25,000, but the clubs now owe the GFA just GH12,500 after this second waiver.

The loan amount will be deducted from any sponsorship amount received in relation to the Premier League.

This is a big relief for Ghana Premier League clubs as they prepare for the upcoming season which is scheduled to start in October after the 2019/20 season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
