The Premier League presents us with yet another set of enthralling fixtures. This gameweek fixtures becomes the second set of fixtures to be played in midweek this season. 8 of the fixtures will take place on Wednesday, whiles the other 1 comes on on Thursday.

We take a look at what to expect in all 9 fixtures:

BEREKUM CHELSEA VS KARELA UNITED (WEDNESDAY)

After a decent start to the season, a time that saw Berekum Chelsea win 5 games and draw 2, they on Sunday recorded their first defeat of the season. They lost 2-1 to Bechem United at the Nana Gyeabour Park, whiles Karela picked only their second victory of the season over the weekend after trashing Legon Cities 3-0 in Tarkwa. Berekum Chelsea will be hoping to bounce back from Sunday’s defeat whiles Karela will hope to deepen Chelsea’s wounds. Star man for Karela Diawisie Taylor last Friday ended his league drought, he scored twice to help his side sink Legon Cities. Karela will hope he can replicate same form on Wednesday in Berekum.

Eleven Wonders last weekend picked their first point on the road after holding Elmina Sharks to a 1-1, whiles Inter Allies picked their first 3 points since defeating Bechem United by 2-1 in gameweek 2. The Techiman side are strong at the Ohene Ameyaw Park, they’ve won 2 out of the 3 games they’ve played at the ground this season, their only defeat at the ground came against Dreams in match day 2. Inter Allies have been awful on the road this season, they’ve lost all 3 games by an aggregate scoreline of 7-1. An awful record they’ll like to change on Wednesday.

Legon Cities will hope they can continue from were they left it at the Accra Sports Stadium, the last time they played at home, they recorded their first league victory of the season. Elmina Sharks haven’t won a game since defeating Inter Allies in Accra by 3-2, they’ve since then drawn 3 games by a 1-1 scoreline, against Olympics, King Faisal and Eleven Wonders. They’ve also recorded 5 draws this season, the most in the league.

Stat of the match: With 5 draws to their belt, Elmina Sharks have drawn the most games in the league.

Liberty professionals displayed yet another impressive performance away from home, they held league contenders Asante Kotoko to a 1-1 draw. Liberty have been excellent away from home, but their home form is nothing to write home about, they’ve picked just 2 points out of the possible 9 at home. Dreams FC after having a decent start to the season are having a torrid time, they’ve lost 3 of their last 4 games, with 2 of those defeats coming away from home. A bad record they’ll hope to change on Wednesday. Liberty will be playing the fixture at home away from home, the match will take place at The Theatre of Dreams in Dawu, which is home of Dreams FC. This comes in after Liberty Professionals were banned from using the Dansoman Carl Reindoff Park after gameweek 5’s fixture against Hearts of Oak.

Bechem United are awful on the road, they’ve managed to pick just a point on the road this season. Game week 8 brings us another tasty fixture, WAFA will welcome Asante Kotoko to the Sogakope Stadium. WAFA last time out bounced back to winning ways after going 4 games without a win. The Sogakope boys will earn inspiration from last weekend’s slim margin victory against Olympics in Accra. Asante Kotoko last weekend failed to build on their victory against arch rivals Hearts of Oak in gameweek 6, they needed a late equalizer to earn a point against Liberty in Kumasi. Kotoko are likely to have Wahab Adams and Augustine Okrah back for those fixture.

Hearts of Oak versus Ashanti Gold presents us the biggest game of the week. The Phobians will welcome the Miners to the Accra Sports Stadium for a Thursday night action. Hearts last weekend bounced back to winning ways after beating Dreams FC by a lone goal in Dawu. The Phobians haven’t found so much favors at the Accra Sports Stadium this season, they’ve lost 2 of the 3 games they’ve played at the venue this season, their only win came against Ebusua Dwarfs in gameweek 3. Ashanti Gold after a torrid few weeks bounced back to winning ways on Sunday after defeating Dwarfs by 1-0. The miners went 3 games without a win and without a goal.

Stat of the match: Hearts haven’t beaten Ashanti Gold at home since 2014.
