PICTURES: Berekum Golden City Park left to rot

Berekum Golden City park which is situated in Brong Ahafo region and services as the home ground for Premier league outfit Berekum Chelsea and Division club Berekum Arsenal has been left to rot.

According to reports, the pitch hasn’t been attended to or kept since the government announced the ban on social gathering and the ban on football in mid match due the coronavirus pandemic.

The 5,000+ capacity stadium which is also used for funeral and other recreational activities hasn’t been kept since mid March and bush animals have already started occupying the place due to it bushy nature.

The park is owned by the people of Berekum and it is under the custodian of the Berekum municipal assembly.

Berekum Golden city park in 2012 hosted a CAF Champions league match between Berekum Chelsea and Raja Casablanca, where Berekum Chelsea demolished Raja 5-0.
