Legon Cities have officially unveiled experienced Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin has their new Head Coach ahead of the 2023/24 betPawa Premier League season.

Paa Kwesi Fabin signed a two-year contract with the club, coming in as replacement for Maxwell Konadu. The 64-year old’s appointment at Legon Cities comes at the back of leading Aduana FC to a second place finish in the league.

Speaking at the unveiling held at the club’s secretariat in Accra, Paa Kwesi Fabin disclosed that he wanted to take sometime away from coaching after leaving Aduana FC. However, it was hard for him to say no when Legon Cities came knocking.

“After leaving my previous club, I wanted to stay off for a while and start my own academy but when LCFC called, it was difficult to say no. I am excited to be here and start this new challenge. I look forward to a fruitful season together with the management and players.”

In the past two years, Legon Cities have finished in 9th place on the betPawa Premier league table, a fate Paa Kwesi Fabin wants to change in the upcoming season.

“Things will have to be different this time round. We can’t finish 9th again. We have to improve the team together and do a lot of work. I have only officially started work on Monday but there are over 100 players who have arrived for justify at the training grounds,” Paa Kwesi Fabin said at the unveiling:

While looking to finish higher than 9th place, Paa Kwesi Fabin has also set sights on grooming young players and selling them, a move which will improve the club’s financial status.

“We will be competitive. We will fight for a respectable position. We will protect the club’s reputation. We will also groom young players and market them as well. We have a clear objective on what we want to do here at LCFC.”

The Royals are scheduled to kickoff their season against Karela United at home on Sunday, September 16 and Paa Kwesi Fabin is hopefully that his team will be ready for the occasion.

“We are working around the clock to sign some new players to beef up the entire squad. We will be ready before the start of the season.”
