Outspoken Chief Executive Officer of Techiman Eleven Wonders, Takyi Arhin has taken a swipe at Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong over his recent comments that he will not invest in Ghana football because delegates failed to elect his candidate George Afriyie as Ghana Football Association (GFA) President.
The business mogul had earlier gone on record and pledged to invest in football at George Afriyie’s birthday party two years ago, but he recently said he will no longer invest in football because his candidate lost the elections.
“He (George Afriyie) is my friend and I would have come on board to support him but he didn’t win the elections so I won’t support it(association).”
“You didn’t vote for the person whom I can reason with about some of the challenges confronting Ghana football so why should I waste my money to come and support you?
“Read my lips I won’t do that. “Kennedy Agyapong told Accra based Oman FM.
Reacting to the comments from the member of Parliament, Takyi Arhin in an interview indicated that he (Kennedy) is not ready to invest as he strongly believes he is just making flimsy excuses in that regard.
“He is not ready to do football. George Afriyie is a football administrator but not the FA president so if George did not win to become the FA president, does it mean we should not do football in the country? He queried.
“I also heard him lambasting the media, if I should ask, who is the owner of Net2? Is he not the owner but if he sits on shows what does he says. Has he given any media house money to promote local football? He quizzed.
George Afriyie last October lost the GFA presidential election to Dreams FC owner, Kurt Okraku.
