Otto Addo hands debut call-ups to five players for Brazil and Nicaragua friendlies [Brief profile of the five debutants]

Head Coach of the Black Stars Otto Addo has named a squad of twenty-nine players for the upcoming International friendly matches against Brazil and Nicaragua.

Ghana as part of preparations for the 2022 FIFA World Cup to be be played in Qatar later this year will be involved in two friendly games against Brazil and Nicaragua in September.

The squad which was released earlier on Tuesday has five debutants. The five players are amongst six players who agreed to play for the Ghana national team in June.

The players include Brighton and Hove Albion right back Tariq Lamptey, Inaki Williams of Spanish La Liga side Athletic Bilbao, Southampton’s Mohammed Salisu who in past turned down numerous call-ups to represent the national team.

The others are Karlsruher SC’s defender Stephan Ambrosius and Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer who has so far scored 4 goals for German Bundesliga 2 outfit Hamburger SV in the ongoing season.

Ghana will play Brazil on Friday, September 23, at Stade Oceane in Le Harve- France before taking on Nicaragua at Estadio Francisco Artes Carrasco in Lorca, Spain on Tuesday, September 27, 2022.

1. Mohammed Salisu

Position: Center Back

Age: 23

Place of Birth: Kumasi, Ghana

Current club: Southampton, England

Previous teams: Real Valladolid, Spain

2. Tariq Lamptey

Position: Right wing back, right back

Age: 21

Place of birth: Born in England to Ghanaian parents

Past allegiance: Represented England at U-18, U-19, U-20 and U-21 levels

Current club: Brighton & Hove Albion, England

Previous teams: Chelsea

3. Inaki Williams

Position: Forward

Age: 28

Place of birth: Born to Ghanaian mother and a Liberian father in Spain.

Past allegiance: Spain U-21 team, Spain senior team

Current club: Athletic Bilbao, Spain

4. Stephan Ambrosius

Position: Center Back

Age: 23

Place of birth: Born in Hamburg – Germany to Ghanaian parents.

5. Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer
