English Premier league outfit Southampton have confirmed the acquisition of promising Ghanaian center back Mohammed Salisu.
The 21-year-old signed a 4-year-deal with the Saints after they triggered his £10.9million release clause.
The burgeoning center back signed from Spanish side Real Valladolid and he’s expected to improve the Saints defense that conceded 60 goals in the 2019/20 English Premier League.
“It is a very good feeling to be a Southampton player. Southampton has a good history in developing young players and I hope I do my best to add to that group”, Salisu said after his announcement.
Salisu Mohammed was one of the outstanding performers in La Liga last season.
The young center-back who was sparingly being used in preseason earned his La Liga debut on the first day of the 2019/20 La Liga season, replacing the outstanding Fernando Calero who had departed and joined Espanyol in the summer.
Salisu in no time sealed a place in the first team, he made 31 La Liga appearances this season, starting 30 of those games and coming from the bench in just a game. He in the process scored a goal and made an assist.
