OFFICIAL: Evelyn Badu ruled of the Costa Rica U-20 Women’s World Cup; Ghana FA announce her replacement

Skipper of the Black Princesses (female U-20), Evelyn Badu has been ruled of the 2022 U-20 Women’s World Cup taking place on Costa Rica.

Evelyn Badu will miss the competition due to a fresh ankle sprain she suffered in the team’s 6-0 friendly win against Club Sport Herediano FF last Friday.

Following the injury, the Ghana FA has announced that the 2022 CAF Women’s Interclub Player of the Year and Women’s Young Player of the Year will be replaced by Kumasi Sports Academy’s Afia Nyarko.

The change has been approved by FIFA on medical grounds. Afia Nyarko who was with the team until the cut off in France will now rejoin the Ghana squad for the tournament.

Ghana will kick start their campaign later today against the United States of America (USA) at the Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto in Alajuela at 5:00pm GMT.

The Black Princesses in the absence of their skipper will be captained by Anasthesia Achiaa as they set sights on going past the first Round of the Mundial for the first time in their history.
